Due to Covid-19, proms were canceled all over the world, which was a huge disappointment. Don’t let that get you down, though! Thankfully, there is still the Homecoming dance to look forward to when everyone gets to go back to school – and should be set to go ahead as normal! But, before you start looking at those homecoming dresses, now is the perfect time to start planning your homecoming proposal. The best way to do that right now? TikTok! Here are 5 awesome ideas to ask your dream date to the Homecoming dance.
1. Go for a Classic
If you still want to go with a classic method to ask your date, there is nothing wrong with a good ol’ homemade sign. After all, you have plenty of time to decorate it! You could make a sign that simply says: “Will you go to homecoming with me?” Or go with something a little more creative and think of a pun related to one of your date’s favorite things, such as “I donut want to go to homecoming with anyone but you.” or “Don’t dessert me when I need a date for homecoming!” You could then incorporate the thing related to the pun to bring everything together.
Top it off by adding a song to your TikTok, it could be your favorite song, a song that connects you as a couple, or, a popular choice at the moment, is ‘Adore You’ by Harry Styles. That is what you’re trying to say after all!
2. Dance!
Some of the most popular videos on TikTok involve dancing, and dancing can also be the perfect way to ask your dream date to Homecoming! For your Homecoming proposal, why not learn one of those viral TikTok dances, as easy or as complicated as you can manage, and add text over the top asking your date to Homecoming? Your date will see how much time and effort you put in and are sure to say yes!
3. Get Your Pet(s) Involved
Everyone loves their furry friends, so why not get your pet involved? Simply hang a sign around your dog’s neck that says, “[Name] says Homecoming would be ruff without you!” or from your cat (if they will let you!) that says, “I’m not kitten around, I’d love you to go to homecoming with [your name]!” Not only will it be super cute, but no one can say no to those kitty or puppy dog eyes!
4. Make it ‘Super’
TikTok gives you the ability to easily switch from one outfit to another, and this is a further great thing to add to a Homecoming proposal. Start in normal clothes, either in front of the camera or in front of a mirror, and at a change of beat in the music, spin and jump to turn seamlessly into a superhero. Then have a sign, or add text that says, “It would be super if you come to homecoming with me.” You could even switch into one of your homecoming dresses after that, unless, of course, you don’t want to ruin the surprise!

Ensure your Tiktok homecoming proposal goes off with a bang by literally ‘popping’ the question. Fill balloons with confetti or glitter and create a line of balloons that you can follow through your house and/or around the yard. Choose some music with a strong beat so you can pop the balloons to the music. Go along the line, popping the balloons. Have the last balloon extra big, with a big question mark drawn or painted on it. That balloon will contain, you guessed it, that important question!
