Nothing in a gummy is 33 times more powerful than anything else. According to a receptor binding study, THCP’s extra carbon atoms on its side chain allow it to bind to cannabinoid receptors with more force than regular THC. Changing from five carbons to seven carbons makes a big difference in a lab dish.
BudPop markets THCP gummies as their own thing, separate from a “stronger THC” pitch, and that framing matters more than it might seem. The lab comparison happened with isolated compounds under controlled conditions. A gummy sitting in someone’s stomach is nothing like that. Receptor affinity measured in a petri dish is one story. What a digestive system does to that same compound is a completely different process.
Swallowing changes the compound before it even reaches the bloodstream. The liver gets to it first, through first-pass metabolism, and by the time it’s converted, it’s a different molecule doing different work. Serving size gets overlooked constantly, too. Total package weight isn’t the same as what’s in one piece, and most gummies come divided into several servings rather than a single dose.
The potency figure is merely a lab snapshot. Chemical reactions under test conditions are described, not how compounds break down and reform in the digestive system.
