What to buy your sister for her wedding day
Congratulations on your sister’s engagement! With the wedding day booked, you might be wondering what you can buy her as a gift for her special day, and though we can’t give you a personal answer, we can offer some gift suggestions to give you some food for thought…
Personalized video
If a surprise is what you’re after, then consider screening a personalized video at a wedding function before the event or following the speeches. You can download an app and bring together all of your memories as a family – images, videos, and funny screenshots – or hand over the responsibility to a professional videographer who can piece together your life in film and create a video that you can cherish forever. Alternatively, get friends and family to record messages of goodwill; they can be played shortly after the wedding so everyone’s involved.
Jewelry
You really can’t go too far wrong with jewelry. From a beautiful bracelet that she can wear as she walks down the aisle to a handcrafted Claddagh ring to celebrate her Irish heritage, there are so many options to consider. We recommend discussing jewelry with your sister before you buy, and perhaps even taking her along to the jewelers with you to ensure she finds something that fits. It’ll spoil the surprise, but save you time and money!
A family trip
The chances are that your sister’s friends will be planning a bachelorette party, and though you might be invited, organizing your own family trip before she starts her new life with her husband-to-be (or bride!) is a great idea. Not only will it give her a breath of fresh air in the midst of her wedding planning, but it’ll give you a chance to spend quality time together. It is even better if you can keep it a family affair – only you, your parents, and siblings; leave the kids and partners at home to keep everything running smoothly upon your return home.
A nameplate
If your sister is moving into a new house with her husband, then you could have a nameplate designed that she can display in pride of place. Get both of their names etched on it and a fun family quote, and give the gift on their wedding day as they embark on their new journey together. Whether you opt for a carved wooden nameplate or a more modern design made from glass and metal, there are so many ways to show your sister and her future husband that they’re both a part of your family, and that you welcome their decision to get married.
Watching your sister get married can be a very emotional time, but giving her a gift that she’ll never forget will make you feel part of the ceremony. The four options we’ve suggested here are only the tip of the iceberg; let us know if you have any other ideas in the comments!
