SFW 2010: Anar Couture

By Samrah Qureshi

Anar Couture’s designer Rana Ghezelayagh definitely has consumer appeal. From a mass retailer point-of-view, her clothes could be found on the racks on Anthropologie or Anne Taylor. Some of her looks could appeal to the high-end consumer whom enjoy the likes of Tracey Reese or Sophie Theallet. The sweet sensibility of clothes coupled with solid tailoring made Anar Couture’s line one of the more successful showings during Seattle Fashion Week. A charcoal fitted coat, with hot pink piping and bell sleeves, and beige coat with with a orange-embroidered collar were most appealing. It is no doubt that Ghezelayagh’s strong suit are coats. She also diversified her line with more rockstar appeal looks that came in the form of a just-below-the-knee black leather coat and a black button-up peplum dress. Anar Couture also presented a chic charcoal and orange trimmed over-sized sweater dress that moved away from the tailored look and gave a very easy relaxed look. It was a solid outing for Anar Couture.
