thaw Collective Indie Kids Fashion Show

In the midst of thaw, last spring’s HDSA-benefiting local fashion show, organizer Liz Weber received a recurring suggestion amidst the positive feedback: a thaw for kids. Hence, the thaw Collective Indie Kids Fashion Show was born.
Children played, ate snacks and dressed up at the vitaminwater social club on Pike. Complete with concrete floors, music, and large pom-pom decorations, the room featured a throng of running kids. But Saturday’s event wasn’t simply a roomful of children and local designers celebrating sun, fashion and Via Tribunali pizza–besides helping the HDSA, it was also an encouraging display of progress and growth among our city’s designers. It seemed that almost every designer had something new and exciting to share.
Karly Orr and Liise Wyatt not only had a t-shirt line to debut, but also word of their upcoming Pop Up Shop, opening in Ballard August 11th. It will feature their independent projects as well as their collaborative brand, Wyatt Orr. Vesna Pandza of Badass Bunny was also present with her edgy sterling silver jewelry and news of a new website. Across the room, Heili Aun Nala of Heilyke displayed new pamphlets detailing her newest collection with Ross James‘s photography, and Michael Cepress has been recently picked up by Velouria, celebrated just last week at the Bow Tie Bash.
As we watched our city’s children and our city’s designers eating pizza and looking really promising together underneath columns of vitaminwater bottles, a sense of Seattle pride inevitably crept into the sunny afternoon.
